A Mama Blessing stems from a Navajo tradition that has been adopted throughout the world by many different cultures and religions. A Mama Blessing is all about nurturing and connecting heart to heart with the mother. Filling her cup so it overflows with love and confidence as she awaits the impending birth of her baby. We want to celebrate and encourage this transition in a woman’s life!

This is also a time for gratitude and honor for the female body, the amazing miracle of carrying, birthing, and sustaining a baby’s life after birth. This ceremony is intended to bring strength and belief to the mother in her body’s ability to birth her baby.

The difference between this Mama Blessing and a baby shower is that the focus is on the mother, a type of ceremony to mark this rite of passage in her life, in contrast to a baby shower that focuses on the baby and aspects of caring for a baby after delivery.

In our day and age, we lack ritual and moments to tell other women what we admire and love about them. It is important to come together to connect and encourage each other free of distraction. We want to be inspirational, loving, and authentic to help prepare the mama for birth and welcoming her precious baby into her family.

I love Jesus. I love my husband. I'm married to my high school sweetheart and best friend. I love my family. I'm also a homeschooling mama of six: four are grown-up and graduated, and my two youngest are in high school. I have seven baby grands, which promotes me to Grana. Before I was a mama, I was a preschool teacher, summer camp counselor, daycare provider, and Early Childhood Development student. I'm a DONA certified birth doula, Newborn Mothers Collective postpartum doula, Dancing for Birth™ instructor, and GentleBirth™ educator. I owned a mommy and me fitness franchise for over a decade, empowering and encouraging mamas in all stages of motherhood. I have a passion for mothers and their incredible journey. I believe there are many, many ways to be a good mama. There isn't just one pattern to motherhood. My heart is tender towards each individual child and the amazing gift he or she is to our world. MOTHERHOOD...ahhhh. I’ll remind you that those little people that come with the job are awesome creatures. They’re constantly teaching us, stretching us, challenging us, and unconditionally loving us through this great experiment called motherhood. Those first borns should get a special medal for being our guinea pigs. Yet, just when we think we have it all figured out, those caboose babies sneak a ride on the soul-train and shake-up the whole place. Gotta love those babes! All that to say, babies are wonderful. The kids they grow into are pretty cool. Even the teens are quite incredible, especially at helping us put feet to the fire we’ve been preaching for the past decade or so. It all comes full-circle when our chicklets are launched and come back to the nest with new babies. The fun, mostly the love, is never-ending.

Let me say that again…there are a million ways to be an amazing mama. Say it. Hear it. Claim it. Believe it. Share it. Mothers need each other to lift us up and remind us of who we really are. We are so much more than spit-up stains, yoga pants, and messy buns. Don’t get me wrong…most days I’m rockin’ my crazy curls. I consider it a great day when I can stay in my pjs all.day.long. You are growing a human, or chasing a toddler, nurturing a child, or guiding a teen! That’s no feeble task, my friend. When a child is born, so is a mother. Let that sink in. Never before did your unique-self exist. Yes, you may have been a mother before. You may have birthed a child, or maybe you didn’t. Maybe your journey began another way.
